Smart Christmas Midnight Rush Smart iPhone 5 Launch

This is the second iPhone launch I've attended. The last one was the launch of the iPhone 4S. I didn't quite enjoy the iPhone 4S launch last year and wished that I attended the launch in Rockwell rather than the other one. For the other one, majority of the crowd dispersed after midnight but the other one continued on offering free movies, games and more food! Closing down a mall for a launch!? how cool is that?

This time I attended the Smart iPhone 5 launch and they made sure that everyone got their hands on the iPhone 5. What Smart did was open up satellite launch locations in different parts of Metro Manila and major cities in the provinces. Other than the main launch event which happened at the Republiq Club (Actually, since there was too many people, the launch happened in the activity area of RW Manila in front of Republiq) with DJ Toni Toni, Sam YG and Slick Rick as hosts. Other locations were: Dillingers in Makati, Reserve in Ortigas, Trilogy Boutique in ATC, Jack's Loft in Eastwood, Starr in Davao, Penthouse in Cebu City and several Smart business centers (Greenhills, Limketkai, CDO).

Postpaid is the New Prepaid iPhone 5 Friction from Smart and Globe

I've tried ALL telcos over the past years and they truly have their plus and minuses. I handle a lot of stuff and I have, believe it or not, 7 numbers, 2 dual-sim phones, 3 single sim phones and 1 mobile wifi. The breakdown?

1 PLDT wireless landline (Personal and business)
1 Smart Prepaid (Business)
2 Smart Postpaids (1 personal, 1 business)
1 Sun Postpaid (Personal)
1 Globe Prepaid (Business)
1 Globe Postpaid (Mobile Broadband)

I don't bring with me all of those everyday but they are used one way or the other as specified. I keep some numbers private just in case I don't want to be bugged. Admittedly, the hardest ones to maintain are the prepaid numbers. You have to load credits from time to time unless you want your credits expired and eaten up.

Should you upgrade to the iPhone 4S Reasons to upgrade and not to upgrade

iPhone just announced their latest addition to the iPhone family, the iPhone 4S. You might or might not be disappointed because there's no iPhone 5 release but I think Siri made it up for that. It's their style since they had 2 versions of the original iPhone, the iPhone 3g and 3gs and now with the iPhone 4 and the 4S.

Some of my friends lasted for 3 generations of iPhone before changing. He bought the original iPhone and skipped the improved version of the original iPhone, iPhone 3g, iPhone 3gs and he got the iPhone 4. As for me, I'll also be waiting for the iPhone 5, if self-control permits or if I won't find a good deal.

If you have the iPhone 4, do you think an upgrade will be worth it?
This depends on your budget and needs. If you have extra money to spend or if you are a hardcore Apple fanboy or you need the new features, then YES, you should! But how should you distinguish need from want?
